Which one are you?
For international students
An Australian Qualification, And Two Years On The Ground To Use It.
You already have the engineering background. What a qualification earned overseas can't give you is 400 hours inside an Australian workplace, an Australian professional network, and an AQF-level qualification issued by a registered Australian training organisation. This course is where you get all three.
If you hold a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma, or a Bachelor degree with a year of engineering practice behind it, this is the qualification that moves you from doing the technical work to planning it, documenting it and managing the people who do it.
A Postgraduate-Level Course Your Engineering Clients Can Actually Get Into.
A 104-week qualification with a built-in 400-hour placement, seven streams, a clear entry pathway from a Diploma or a Bachelor plus one year of practice, and a defined pathway on to the Master of Business and Project Management.
Seven Streams. You Pick The One Your Career Is Actually Headed Toward.
The qualification builds on the expertise you already hold, and you tailor it to the discipline you want to work in:
Mechanical
Industrial
Electronics
Electrical
Mechatronics
Robotics
Metallurgy
The 400-hour work placement
400 Hours You Don't Have To Go Out And Find The Work Placement Yourself.
Most postgraduate-level engineering study asks you to supply your own industry exposure. This one builds it into the course, as a structured 400-hour placement inside the 104 weeks.
What the placement is for
Applying the theory where it counts. The technical documentation, the project planning, the statistics — all of it lands differently once you have done it on a live job.
An Australian professional network. For an international student, this is often the single hardest thing to build from outside the country.
Something concrete on your résumé. Australian engineering experience, described in Australian terms, before you graduate.
Where you study
AIE Campus, Broadmeadows. A 4,000 m² engineering workshop in Melbourne's north — robotic welding arms, CNC routers, fabrication equipment.
Classroom-based delivery. Scheduled sessions on a timetable you attend, plus allocated self-study time. You will need access to a computer with an internet connection.
Workplace. The placement component is delivered in an industry setting.
The work placement is an assessed component of the qualification, not employment. It is not paid work and it does not constitute an offer of employment by AIE or by a host organisation.
