OVERVIEW
- This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required of an engineering tradesperson - fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. The qualification has been specifically developed to meet the needs of apprentices in the above trade.
- This qualification must be undertaken through a Training Contract or through formal trade recognition assessment processes. The skills associated with this qualification are intended to apply to a wide range of fabrication work, including undertaking metal fabrication, structural steel erection, sheet metal work, welding and blacksmithing.
PATHWAYS
Further training pathways from this qualification include transition into technical work through completion of the MEM40119 Certificate IV in Engineering | MEM50119 Diploma of Engineering – Advanced Trade or undertaking other relevant qualifications.

JOB ROLES/EMPLOYMENT OUTCOME
- The Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade specifies the competencies required for employment as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication including metal fabrication, forging, founding, structural steel erection, electroplating, metal spinning, metal polishing, sheet metal work, welding and the use of related computer controlled equipment.
- Employment outcomes related to this qualification are found in a wide variety of manufacturing and engineering related sectors as well as Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication roles in other industries.
WHO CAN UNDERTAKE THE TRAINING?
To undertake this program, students must be undertaking an apprenticeship.
This course is not available for International Students.
