OVERVIEW

Australian institute of Engineering (AIE) is proud to be providing training and assessment services for Mechanical and Fitting industry.
This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required of an engineering tradesperson – mechanical within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. The qualification has been specifically developed for apprentices in the above trade.
AIE flexible training model has been developed to assist businesses that
require an on the job training program for all or part of the training contract.

Further training pathways from this qualification include MEM40119 Certificate IV in Engineering and MEM50119 Diploma of Engineering – Advanced Trade.

JOB ROLES/EMPLOYMENT OUTCOME

The Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade specifies the competencies required for employment as an Engineering Tradesperson – Mechanical including the design, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, commissioning, maintenance and service of all mechanical equipment, machinery, fluid power systems, stationary and mobile equipment, instruments, refrigeration, and the use of computer controlled machine tools.
Employment outcomes related to this qualification are found in a wide variety of manufacturing and engineering related sectors as well as Engineering Tradesperson – Mechanical roles in other industries

WHO CAN UNDERTAKE THE TRAINING?

To undertake this program, students must be undertaking an apprenticeship.

This course is not available for International Students.

ELIGIBILITY OF STUDENTS FOR GOVERNMENT FUNDING

An Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits.
Students must be employed in a role that enables them access to appropriate workplace tasks.
AIE will confirm the suitability of the learner's employment prior to commencement.
The RTO has funding contracts in VIC, SA and NSW. Please contact the RTO for eligibility requirements for each state to see if you are eligible for funding.

PRE-REQUISITES (ENTRY REQUIREMENTS)

All students must undertake a LL&N assessment as part of the enrollment process. Credit may be granted towards this qualification by those who have completed relevant qualifications.

HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED?

The assessments include theory and practical tasks and will be clearly documented in the assessment documents. Assessments will include tasks such as written questions, practical demonstrations and workplace evidence reports.

DELIVERY ARRANGEMENTS

This program is to be delivered through facilitated online training sessions occurring fortnightly (2 hours) and practical skills training will occur through a minimum of 3-4 face to face visits at the student's workplace.
For practical components/ skills, the Trainer will coordinate with the employer to ensure access to suitable environments for practical training to occur.
Learners will also be supplied with Learner Guides for each unit delivered and will work through the learning activities during self-study time. Learning activities will give learners the opportunity to practice and prepare for assessments.
Learners will have the opportunity to apply and test their new knowledge and skills through their employment and on-the-job training within their business.

WHAT CONTENT IS COVERED IN THE TRAINING?

Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (MEM30219) covers the skills and knowledge required to work as an Engineering Trades-person – Mechanical within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries or other industries where Engineering Trades-person – Mechanical work.

WHAT IS THE COURSE DURATION?

This course has been designed to be delivered over 4 years in apprenticeship contract. This course also looks at the competence of the apprentice during the training.

Tuition fee for the government subsidised fee is indicative to individual student circumstances.

*Fees will be split over 3 years and invoiced each calendar year.

RPL PROCESS

RPL Assessment only training could be completed by candidates that have around 6 years of industry experience.
Our expert team will carefully assess your experience including past qualifications, relevant skills, and industry knowledge. Information about your knowledge and experience will be aligned to the relevant components of the qualification. You will receive recognition for the units or modules in which you have demonstrated either competency or similarity of learning outcomes, and you will only need to complete any remaining units to receive the qualification.

APPLYING FOR RPL

To apply for RPL simply submit an enquiry so we can provide you with the appropriate application form. Along with this form you will also need to supply any relevant documentation that supports your application including existing qualifications and evidence of your previous roles.

RPL COSTS

The cost for RPL in a VET course will vary depending on the number of units of competency you successfully gain recognition for, the fee structure of the course and any assessment or training required. You will be provided with an approximate cost for your unique situation when you apply.

CREDIT TRANSFER

Australian Institute Of Engineering as a Registered Training Organisation recognises the Australian Qualifications Framework qualifications and Statement of Attainments issued by any other Australian Registered Training Organisation.
Students are encouraged to submit any requests for credit from previous studies at the time of enrolment, to ensure they are not enrolling in units they may not need to undertake.
In order to apply for exemption/credit transfer from units completed at another training organisation, you will need to complete an Application for credit transfer Form available from AIE campus, or team, or a copy of the form can be obtained from AIE Website.
Your completed Application for credit transfer form together with attached documentary evidence (certified copy of Qualification/Statement of Attainment) to support your request for exemption/credit transfer should be submitted directly to AIE either in person or by email. Requests without documentary evidence will not be processed and will be returned to students. There are no fees attached to Credit Transfers.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?

Successful completion of the course will result in you being awarded the Qualification of Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (MEM30219). Should the student successfully complete only one or more of the Units of Competency, but not the required 32 Units of Competency, the student will be issued with a Statement of Attainment at the time of completion or withdrawal.
For re- issuance of Certificates and Statements of Attainments the student will be charged $25 per document required. Payment for the re-issuance of such documents is required prior to the re-issuance occurring by the RTO.
